Lighting Up Mexico’s Highway Billboards with Solar Power

Project Background: A local advertising company in Mexico required reliable lighting for highway billboards to ensure 24/7 visibility. Traditional wired solutions were expensive due to cabling and electricity costs, especially in remote roadside areas. Solar-powered flood lights became the ideal solution, combining energy independence with easy installation.

Technical Hurdles: The challenge was to guarantee uniform brightness across wide billboard surfaces while ensuring the lights could withstand local weather conditions, including heat and seasonal heavy rains. Long battery life was also critical to maintain full-night illumination for advertisements.

Our Solution: DEL ILLUMINATION supplied 120 units of the DEL-DN5-50 all-in-one solar flood lights. Compact yet powerful, each unit integrated a monocrystalline solar panel and LiFePO4 battery, providing stable performance and low maintenance. The German R&D team fine-tuned optical designs for billboard applications, while the China production team delivered large-scale supply with competitive pricing.

German Team

Optimized optical angles for uniform coverage of billboard surfaces.

China Team

Produced and tested units under strict QC standards, ensuring durability and timely delivery.

Outcome:

After installation by the client’s technicians, the billboards achieved bright and uniform visibility throughout the night. Advertisers reported improved exposure, while the advertising company enjoyed zero electricity costs and easier maintenance. The project is now being used as a reference model for expanding solar billboard lighting in other regions.

➡️ With 120 units installed, the entire set of billboards along the highway is now reliably illuminated with clean solar energy.
