The purpose of LED landscape lighting is to coordinate the landscape with landscape lighting and the building features merged with the surrounded view, beautify the environment.
Then what are the factors to consider when designing the LED lighting of building landscape?
- Viewing direction and distance
Lighting position as main viewing direction must be confirmed before the design of LED lighting of building landscape. Secondly, take into account the viewing distance, which will affect the visual clarity when people. At the same time, the level of lighting should be decided.
- Surrounded environment and background
Lighting level of the surround environment will influence the illumination of the main body of the building. If the surround environs is too dark, only a little light is enough to illuminate the main body; if the surrounded environment is bright, stronger and brighter lights is needed to illuminate and high light the main body.
LED lighting design for building landscape it can roughly divided into the following steps:
- Decide the expected light effect
The different appearance of the buildings will perform different lighting effect, so it should decide according to the features of the building.
- Select the suitable light source
Selected light source should be considered in terms of light color, color rendering, efficiency, lifetime and other aspects. The combination of light color and exterior wall of the building is also very important, such as golden-brown bricks are suggested to use warm light like to illuminate and light source is high-pressure sodium or halogen.
- Decide the required illumination
Illumination is mainly decided according to the light and shadow of the surrounded environment and the color of the material on the exterior wall of the building. It is generally focus on the main facade, and the illumination of the sub-facade is only half of the main facade under the common condition. The differences between light and shadow can highlight the stereoscopic vision of the building.
- Select suitable light
The shapes of the lights is also different for different building. Square floodlights is suggested to use for large angles of light,
round lights for small angles; narrow-angle lights for long-distant projections; wide-angle lights for uniform light projections.
- Calculation of illumination and light amount
The final decision on the amount of lights needs to consider the light source, lights, installation locations and other criteria to ensure the lighting effect will be close to expected standard after installed. When the building is projected at night it reflects significant effect of its appearance.
